El Padre de la Psicología LGBT en Puerto Rico y Latinoamérica: Una Vida Dedicada al Activismo Académico

Abstract

To perform research on LGBT communities, HIV/AIDS, gender and masculinity in Latin America and not cite the work of Dr. Jose Toro-Alfonso is a clear indicator that the literature review is not complete. This article addresses his professional achievements as an academic activist for the LGBT community. His contributions are presented in his roles as: pioneer in LGBT rights, activist on HIV/AIDS health, expert on gender and masculinity, student mentor, prolific writer, a presenter in local and international forums and the leader of the Committee on LGBT Issues.
